Carrier Library
Library services are changing.

We are providing JMU students and faculty with access to new collections, databases, and journals.

We are bringing JMU faculty and students together with new classroom technologies and teaching tools.

We are now Carrier Library and more—with two branches:  Music Library and CISAT Library.

And construction is beginning on a new library building on JMU’s East Campus, to be completed in 2008.

We are changing.  And you can be a part of that change.

About JMU Libraries & Educational Technologies:

JMU Libraries include Carrier Library and two branches, the Music Library and CISAT Library.  A new library facility to be built on JMU's East Campus is in the planning stages.  JMU Libraries has been an innovator of the library liaison program,  in which librarians build a collaborative working relationship with their academic departments to provide subject-specific library instruction, research consultation, and to develop collections.  JMU Libraries’ awarding-winning Information Literacy program provides our students with skills for lifelong learning.  JMU Libraries & Educational Technologies also includes the Center for Instructional Technology, which provides university faculty with proactive support for technological innovation in instruction; and Technology Classrooms, whose staff install and maintain computing and multimedia technology in classrooms across the campus.

Comments from our Learning Community*:

"The quality of service and faculty at JMU's Libraries is unsurpassed. I have discussed the caliber of library with faculty from other institutions and graduates of our programs, and they indicate their very positive impressions of the services we are provided here at JMU. Further, the enhancements in the services provided here at JMU in recent years is very, very impressive."

"Superb, professional staff - the crown jewels of JMU. A tremendous asset for keeping abreast of developments in teaching and research areas."

"I am thrilled to finally get an official opportunity to rave about the library staff ... they have been absolutely fantastic at helping me bridge the gap between the old and new way to find information. They have all gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping me."
