Computer Workstation Software PolicyPolicy
The same base workstation image and hardware configuration is used for public workstations in Carrier Learning Commons, Rose Learning Commons, Carrier 301, Rose 3313, and Rose 3311. The base image is fully reviewed once a year, during the summer semester in anticipation of Fall semester. An additional, smaller review happens before Spring semester. Routine additions and deletion of applications are made during both reviews. Time-sensitive changes to address security and operational issues are made throughout the year. Computers in Carrier Library 101 and the Rose Library 24-hour space are managed by JMU IT.
- Requests must be submitted by April 15 for inclusion on the image the following fall semester, and November 15 for inclusion the following spring.
- Requestors may be asked to review test images to insure proper functioning of new software.
- Requests from outside of L&ET should be submitted by a champion from within L&ET who is able to explain the connection to L&ET mission and is willing to review the test image.
- The complete policy and procedure is available here.
