MEDIA RESOURCES FILM RENTAL
Media Resources has a film rental budget that enables faculty to obtain film titles not in our collection, for classroom use on specific dates. Often these film titles can be obtained in video/DVD format--but sometimes they are available only in 16mm film format.
Rental procedure:
- Arrangement for film rentals can be made through the Library Assistant/Collection Services, Judy Hinegardner (568-6610, email: hinejaga@jmu.edu). Please provide all the relevant rental information you may have at your disposal--title, date of screening, rental vendor where available.
- You may also request a rental via the Schedule Video for Class Use form (http://www.lib.jmu.edu/forms/video_request/Default.aspx)
- All rental requests should be made at least 10 days in advance of screening date.
- All rental titles are available for pickup on the day before screening at the media circulation desk, and should be returned directly after use.
What Media Resources CAN'T do at the present time:
- Arrange and/or reimburse video rentals from local video stores. Faculty must do this at their own expense for classroom screenings.
- Use MR funds to rent films for student projects or research of any kind. We can only provide assistance in locating rental services.
Tools for Locating Rental Programming:
- MediaSource CD-ROM (available in the media center, rm. 18) for film, video and other media available from academic rental institutions and some commercial vendors.
- Software Location Tools
Nonprint Media Catalogs on the Web for purchase and rental vendors or academic institutions.
- Consult the Library Assistant/Collection Services, Judy Hinegardner (568-6610, email: hinegaja@jmu.edu), or the Director, Jeff Clark (568-6770, email: clarkjc@jmu.edu).
