Database Request Trials
The following databases are being considered for JMU Libraries' online collections.
ASTM SEDL - Digital Library
The ASTM Standards and Engineering Digital Library is a collection of industry-leading standards and technical engineering information. Includes information in aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, environmental, geological, health and safety, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, petroleum, soil science, and solar engineering.
Chatham House Online Archive, Module 1: 1920-1979
Chatham House Online Archive contains the publications and archives of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), the world-leading independent international affairs policy institute, founded in 1920 following the Paris Peace Conference.
EasyBib Academic Edition is a citation and research management tool that allows users to create bibliographies, cite sources, take organized notes, and create outlines for papers on a web-based platform. EasyBib basic is fee, but the JMU links are unique to the trial. New users can retain accounts created during the trial, but JMU links will be removed at the end of the trial period.
Meet the Press (Alexander Street Press)
The Meet the Press streaming video collection from Alexander Street Press provides access to over 1500 hours of footage from the popular television program. Coverage begins in 1947.
Users must create a personal folder by clicking the "Create a Personal ID" button on the trial login page. Enter the provided username and password after clicking "Create a Personal ID."
NoodleTools is a set of integrated tools for note-taking, outlining, citation, document archiving/annotation, and collaborative research and writing. Students and faculty have separate accounts. A trial guide is available for your convenience: http://noodle.to/trialguide.
Papers 3: Find, organize, read, cite. The Papers app helps users collect and curate research materials. Availabe for Mac, iOS, and Windows; click on the link above to download the app.
Note: Trial access not available on iOS devices. Only Mac and Windows versions are included in the trial.
How to install: You must be connected to JMU Official Wireless (or on Network Connect or Junos Pulse if off campus) when opening the app for the first time. When you start Papers you will be automatically prompted with a message saying that a Papers site license is available and that you can join the site license. Request to become part of the site license in the next step by submitting your name and email address. Papers will then generate your individual license key (P3-xxx…) and activate Papers automatically. Your individual license keys will be also emailed to you.
Note: Users need to accept the disclaimer terms before entering the PsycTHERAPY trial.
Contains over 300 videos featuring therapy demonstrations showing clinicians working with individuals, couples, and families.
Review of Behavioral Economics
The first volume in the journal Review of Behavioral Economics is available during the trial. Full text access is limited to the articles in volume 1. The journal is devoted to developing and expanding the field of behavioral economics.
Social Theory (Alexander Street Press)
Social Theory offers an extensive selection of documents that explore the complexities and interpret the nature of social behavior and organization.
Communication Source (EBSCO)
Communication Source combines Communication & Mass Media Complete with Communication Abstracts to offer full-text content related to communication, linguistics, rhetoric, discourse, speech-language pathology, media studies, and more.
Capital IQ Datafeeds
Three Capital IQ data sets are available for a limited time on the WRDS platform: Key Developments, Capital Structure, and People Intelligence. The information in the trial is limited to 100 sample companies. Please log into your WRDS account to access the trial. If you do not have a WRDS account, request a day pass here.
