This multi-media information "VIRTUAL" - MEDICAL CENTER contains a myriad of resources including teaching files, medical cases, textbooks, tutorials, databases and more. A resource with pointers to various sites containing anatomical maps and related images for various parts of the human body, including the whole brain; ear/cochlear images; vocal/speech parts, etc. Sites include the University of Wisconsin, Washington University (St. Louis, MO.), UK hospitals, etc. Subject categories of interest include:
- ***NLM's Visible Human Project***
This is a major project being developed by the National Library of Medicine. It is currently developing a set of images based on complete anatomically detailed, three-dimensional representations of the male and female human body. The site also includes information on various related projects and products which utilize various subsets of the NLM human project data.
- TBI Brain Map
An atlas from TPN (The Perspectives Network, Inc.), a non-profit organization committed to helping traumatic brain injury survivors.
- VOXEL-MAN Project
Available for purchase through Springer-Verlag. Sponsored by the Universitat Hamburg, Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science in Medicine.
