Technical requirements for viewing the videos.

Introduction
In this module I will introduce the concept of information seeking and explain each subsequent module. The introduction is six minutes long.

Module 1
The information literate student determines the nature and extent of the information needed. This session will discuss formulating the research question. Sources of information used to answer it are discussed, including citations, primary and secondary source material. The conclusion explains how to figure our what JMU owns and how to get it. This session is 26 minutes long.

Module 2
The information literate student accesses needed information effectively and efficiently. This module is divided into two sessions with the first covering database scope and choice and the second covering searching. Part 1 is 17 minutes long.

Module 3
The information literate student evaluates information and its sources critically and incorporates selected information into his or her knowledge base and value system. Ways of evaluating the information are discussed here. I discuss how to decide which information you should include and how the new information relates to what was already known. This session is 20 minutes long.

Module 4
The information literate student understands many of the economic, legal and social issues surrounding the use of information and accesses and uses information ethically and legally. Ethical and legal considerations are the topic for module 4. I review proper citation and provide a few examples of styles. I also examine the legal issues related to disseminating information. I conclude by explaining how to access databases from off campus and other privileges JMU makes available for its students. This session is 14 minutes long.

Best Bets for Nursing and Allied Health Research
In this session I take viewers through basic searching in the Health & Wellness Resource Center, CINAHL, PubMed and Images.MD. This session is 21 minutes long.
