Libraries Deliver to a Library Near You Have you ever wished that books in a JMU library were closer to where you did your work or research? As both the JMU campus and JMU Libraries have grown, many of us find ourselves working more frequently near one library while the materials we need are in another library location. JMU Libraries has implemented a Campus Delivery Service that will bring materials to a library near you. This service is well under way as the current Fall semester begins.
The delivery service began this summer, and enables any member of the JMU Library community to choose to have materials housed at one location delivered to another library location for check out. For example, a faculty member whose office is in Memorial Hall finds a book in JMU Library Catalog that is located in Carrier Library (or the Music Library or CISAT Library) that he would like to check out. Delivery of journal articles from Carrier Library’s print collections was also implemented this summer, and is available to JMU faculty, staff, and graduate / doctoral students. They can use Interlibrary Loan’s online request form to request articles in Carrier Library paper or microform journals to be delivered to them. Articles will be delivered electronically whenever possible. Most deliveries are processed within 24-48 hours. Currently the delivery of physical materials is made once daily, Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. No deliveries of articles are provided on weekends. There is no charge for the delivery service. Questions regarding the delivery service should be directed to liason librarians, Carrier Library Circulation Manager, Susan Nichols (nicholsd@jmu.edu , 568-7012) for physical items, or Interlibrary Loan Manager, Mikki Butcher (butcheml@jmu.ed , 568-6807) for article delivery.
