Carrier Library has a number of useful guides and bibliographies on the Age of Exploration. The Provost and Sanchez titles are important because of their recent publication, their scholarly approach, and extensive use of European languages. Bibliographies can also be located in most scholarly studies on the topic.

This section provides a few examples of documentation on the Age of Exploration. The Quinn work listed and the series Original Narratives of Early American History are especially useful. The works by Hakluyt are of critical importance for the English aspects of research. A keyword search of the word Hakluyt will be useful in determining Carrier Library holdings by him and by the Hakluyt Society. The book by Parks (listed under General Sources, above) is on Hakluyt and includes bibliographies on Hakluyt's writings and on English published books from 1496-1600 on exploration.

Carrier Library has a number of books providing cartographic information on the Age of Exploration. The Nebenzahl atlas is highlighted because of its publication ties to the quincentennial. Many scholarly works on this era will contain maps of specific regions. The work by Waldseemuller (in General Sources, above) includes facsmiles of his 1507 world map noting the term "America" for the first time.
