Most academic libraries follow the Library of Congress Subject Headings. Volumes for these subjects are available near the printers in the Reference Room.  The following subject heading list provides examples of subject headings for British history.

The Carrier Library Home Page (CLHP) @ </> has a place for searching by subject discipline. Use the History site to locate Web sites of research interest.C. WorldCat WorldCat is an online catalog to most American library holdings. It currently has over 46 million titles cataloged. For historical research this is a mandatory service. Located under "Databases" on the CLHP.D. Library Catalogs (national and international) A major access point to searching library catalogs throughout the world is located on the CLHP. Click on "Quick Reference" and Libraries.  This is the best source for individual library catalogs currently available. E. CD-ROM’s 1851 British Census. Salt Lake City: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1997. (Ask for this at the Reference Desk).
Ca. 1.5 million names of individuals in Devon, Norfolk, and Warwick Counties, England are available. Census information includes name, relationship, marriage, age, sex, occupation, birthplace, and address. Reference to the Public Record Office citation and the Family History Center order number is included. Arranged by individual, household, and by letter of the alphabet.

1881 British Census and National Index: England, Scotland, Wales, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, and Royal Navy. Salt Lake City: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1999. (Ask for this at the Reference Desk).
The 1881 British census is available in twenty-five CD-ROM's.

Medieval Realms: Britain, 1066-1500. 1994. (Media Resources CD 64).
An interactive CD-ROM with sound, pictures, and text. Search capabilities include topic, date, and keyword.

Vital Records Index: British Isles. (Ask for this at the Reference Desk).
Ca. five million birth, christening, and marriage records from the British Isles are available on five CD-ROM,s. Coverage is 1538-1888. A publication of the Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
