This guide provides sources for searching historical aspects of revolution.
The present guide looks at revolutions, beginning with classical writers
commenting on revolution in the ancient world. A major section of this
guide lists citations on the Philosophy of Revolution. Five revolutionsave
separate sections: the English, American, French, Russian, and
Chinese. The guide is divided into different types of sources. It is
important for the researcher to have an understanding of different resources and
how each can enhance one's study. Book formatted materials are listed first.
Index and journal possibilities are listed separately. The final section
discusses Internet and database searching capabilities.

Guides and bibliographies can be of vital importance both early in the
research process to locate information to begin or to determine the thrust of
one's study. They can also be valuable in locating additional resources,
including primary source material, to extend the research. Bibliographies for
specific revolutions have been included here. Two bibliographies that are
outstanding are the Gephart work on the American Revolution and the Handbook of
Latin American Studies on revolutionary action in Latin America.
