How can I recall a checked-out item?

When viewing the detailed information in LEO about a book, video, or other item that is checked out, click on the Request button, found with the purple buttons along the top and bottom of the page. Then:

  • Once the request is processed (usually within a day), the item displays in LEO as Due+1 Hold. It also shows up in My LEO record as a hold placed. You can cancel it there, if you'd like.
  • Our Circulation Department asks the patron who currently has the item checked out to return the item (i.e. we "recall" the item), but only if the patron has had it out for at least 3 weeks.
  • When the other patron returns the item, you receive an e-mail notifying you that it is available. Request it to be held at the service desk in which it is shelved or to be delivered to a service deak at another library location.
