Through a generous donation Special Collections has acquired the digital rights to two appraisal documents and one business ledger.
The ledger of a Mr. Nimrod Warden, Hardy County (then Virginia) 1806 documents: goods bought and sold, amounts paid and received, and the ships bartered with and their European company of origin.
One of the appraisal documents is of the estate of Samuel Harnsberger, Augusta County. The document details his belongings room by room and also provides a list of slaves owned by Harnsberger.
The second appraisal document is titled “mothers bill of sale” and is believed to be the estate sale of Lucinda Van Nort Warden who died April 23, 1880.
The finding aid to the ledger collection as well as the links to the digital content are available online (http://www.lib.jmu.edu/special/manuscripts/5023Warden.aspx).
