JMU Libraries Wireless Laptop Service
Laptops are available to Faculty, staff and students on a first come, first served basis in Rose Library at the Information Desk and Carrier Library at the Media Center Desk, Room 16 (basement level). Learn more through the Laptop FAQs.

The loan period is for 4 hours with no reservations or waiting lists.

Any borrower who checks out a laptop is responsible for that laptop at all times.

Overdue Fines are $10 per hour. The replacement value is $1,800.

To renew, patron must return to the desk where they checked out the laptop with all items present (this includes the laptop, mouse, VGA cable, power supply and laptop case).

Renewals are only permitted if no one else is waiting to checkout a laptop.

Availability and renewal are not guaranteed.

Laptops must remain in the library where they are checked out.

Unattended laptops may be picked up and checked in by desk staff. If laptop is late when checked in, borrower remains responsible for Overdue Fines.

All laptop users are strongly advised to save their work to external storage devices or email it to themselves frequently. Work that has been saved to the desktop, or anywhere on the computer, as well as any unsaved work, will be permanently lost when the laptop is restarted.
Extended Laptop Loans and Other Equipment
Checkout equipment for a longer loan period through Media Center Equipment Loans. Camcorders, audio recorders, and more are available for all faculty, staff, and students. Laptops and projectors are available for faculty, staff, and doctoral students only.
