• Direct dubbing deck

• Great if not planning to edit!

• Located at Mac Mini workstation

• Dubs in several ways:

       -DV cassette to DVD

       -External device (camcorder)

         to DVD via Firewire/DV cord

       -Internal hard drive

         for advanced features

Important considerations:

 • Have plenty of time!   Capturing, editing, and burning a project should take at least three times the time length of your recording.

 • Workstations are "first come, first served".

 • Video Projects create large files!  Be sure to bring portable storage or plan to finish your project in one session.  A space is

offered to save files, however Media Resources cannot secure your project files.  Our computers reboot daily.  Upon reboot, all

information is lost except what is saved to the designated "safe" folder.  If the folder becomes full, the oldest files are

automatically deleted, so save at your own risk!

 • No overnight projects.  As mentioned above, our computers reboot daily.  If you attempt to leave a workstation at night while a

project is encoding, your project will likely be lost.

 • Saving a project may only save the editing instructions, not the actual video.  Check your file, and get help if you're not sure.

Copyright

 • Videos with electronic copyright protection cannot be dubbed with our software.

 • Attempting to duplicate copyrighted material may be both illegal and an honors violation. (see Honor Code violation #16)

 • Anyone attempting to violate copyright will be asked to leave and reported.

 • If there are any questions about copyright ask an office staff member, or email clarkjc@jmu.edu
