Getting Started

Need Help on Your Project?
Whether you are working on photography, video, podcasts, or magazine layouts, we provide one-on-one troubleshooting or consultation assistance for walk-ins or by appointment. There are also print tutorials and online Lynda.com tutorials available at each station. Our merger with Innovation Services will not change this.

Workstations and Software Applications
The Media Labs maintains an Open Lab with iMac workstations, flatbed scanners, Wacom tablets, and various decks to capture and dub from VHS and miniDV to computer or DVD. Software that can be found on most stations includes Adobe Photoshop Elements with Topaz plug-ins, Abobe Creative Cloud apps- PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, Microsoft Office applications, Apple Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Elements, Premiere Pro, Motion, Compressor, iMovie, SpeedGrade, Fireworks, Acrobat Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, After Effects, Flash Professional, Flashbuilder, Dreamweaver, Handbrake, Toast Titanium, GarageBand, iTunes, and Audacity.

Video Projects Create Large Files
If you would like to save your files, a portable storage drive of 8Gb or larger is recommended. There is a designated "safe" storage space available to save files, and media files are backed up daily. However, files not placed in the correct storage spaces will be lost in the daily reboot of computers.
