Can I renew a laptop loan after my 3 hour checkout is over?

Yes, if no one else is waiting for a laptop. If someone is waiting for a laptop, you are expected to reliquish the laptop for their use. To renew the loan, you must return the laptop and all of it's accessories to the media circulation desk. The desk assistant will check in the laptop and accessories and then check them back out to you for another three hours.

There are two methods to access the on-campus wireless network: JMU Official Wireless (no VPN Client), or use the VPN Client. The VPN client is available from Media Resources or download from Computing Support's website. For detailed information, please consult Computing Support's Wireless page. Carrier Library laptops use the JMU official wireless.

What is the best way to save my work?

Storing your work on a portable media device, such as a flash drive, is the safest method to save your work. However, if you don't have a portable device you may temporarily store your work in the Temporary Folder located on the desktop. If you store your work on the laptop anywhere other than the Temporary Folder, your work will be lost as soon as the computer is shut down or rebooted.
