Description:16,000 streaming audio tracks of historical blues, gospel, ragtime, folk songs, and narrative recordings. Create your own playlists and store them in your 'My Playlists' folder.   The earliest recordings on African American Song are from the early 1900’s featuring the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The plan is to follow the history of African American Music through the mid-1970s. Right now only a fraction of the planned tracks have been added to this database.  The current 17,500 tracks are expected to increase to 50,000 by 2008, when it will be complete. [ more details ]
