Abstract: Typescript copy. Term paper. This is the history of a Black community to the east of Linville. Census records, a church, education, and how the community thrived in the years following the Civil War are noted. What remains in 1998 is an old church building. Lucy Simms taught here before she taught in Harrisonburg. EMU-HL holdings include manuscript materials Siegrist used for his paper. Four audiotapes that were made as part of the research process are available. They are not transcribed.
