Acquisition Information: The ledgers were donated in March of 2012 by Susan Versen, Head of Reference at Massanutten Regional Library.

Provenance:  The former director of the Massanutten Regional Library pulled the records from the Craft House in downtown Harrisonburg before it was demolished.

Processing Information:  The collection was found in the mud, so the covers of the ledgers needed to be cleaned before processing. After the ledgers had been cleaned with a  preservation grade HEPA vacuum, the records needed to be cut from the binding. Some of the pages were wrinkled, so a humidification process was used to flatten them out. Lastly, the pages that were severely damaged were photocopied and the originals were discarded.

Bio/Historical Note:   Founded in 1927, Virginia Craftsmen supplies handmade, reproduction 18th century furniture. They have provided furniture to Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg, the Rotunda at the University of Virginia, and other historical sites. They originally operated out of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
