Beginning on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Special Collections will resume normal spring semester operating hours, and the reading room will be open by appointment, Monday-Friday, from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Limited appointments are also available the week of January 10, 2022.
Reading Room Use Requirements
Please refer to the JMU Stop the Spread page for the current Operating Plan regarding guidance and requirements on using all JMU spaces, including JMU Libraries, as pandemic-related health and safety guidelines evolve.

Appointments are required at this time and must be requested at least 3 business days in advance of your visit to allow adequate time for confirmation and materials request processing.
All requests for appointments must be scheduled through your user account with the Special Collections Request System.
Requests placed on Friday may require additional processing time.
After you submit a request for an appointment, Special Collections staff will process your request to determine appointment availability, and you will receive an email to confirm or reschedule your requested appointment as soon as possible.
Please wait until you have received a confirmation email before traveling to the library.
