About me

Currently, I am a tenure-track faculty Instructional Designer and an Assistant Professor in JMU Libraries. As an Instructional Designer, I provide consultations and technology-supported pedagogy instruction, related to the design of courses and curriculum and enhancement of student learning experiences. Before joining JMU, I served as a curriculum support specialist in the Department of Technology-Enhanced Learning and Online Strategies (TLOS) at Virginia Tech. In this capacity, I was responsible for delivering technical assistance during workshops, creating digital learning resources, and leading instructional sessions focused on Canvas C.O.R.E: Critical Online Readiness Elements.

In addition to my Instructional Design responsibilities, I engage in academic research endeavors. My research interests primarily focus on the comparison of applying course design principles through cross-cultural syllabi and investigating ways to integrate technology to enhance course accessibility.

When having leisure time, I enjoy cooking, hiking, traveling with my family.

About Instructional Design

We are committed to building an engaging and inclusive learning environment at JMU by consulting with instructors and programs on instructional design (ID) for courses, curricula, and learning initiatives.

As instructional designers, our practices are informed by learning sciences, systems thinking, and pedagogy-driven community building. Centering equity, accessibility, and inclusion, we support instruction, learning, and scholarly work by providing instructional design solutions to enhance and sustain learners’ success. Our work simultaneously holds space to explore evidence-based emerging teaching and learning trends, tools, and methods while centering an ethic of care and a learner-centered experience
