Faculty: Apply for a $2000 “Open Adopt” Grant

Posted on: September 24, 2020

JMU faculty, do you want to redesign your course or syllabus to swap out an expensive textbook for an option that is open, no-cost, or from the Libraries’ collections?

Consider applying for the VIVA Open Adopt Grant program, newly available from Virginia’s academic library consortium. These grants are similar to the popular VIVA Course Redesign Grants, but are focused on integrating new learning materials into a course.

VIVA Open Adopt Grants provide awards of $2,000 to individual instructors to support the time it takes to  integrate  existing open or no-cost materials into a syllabus, and to ensure that the results of those efforts are widely available to Virginia educators.

Applications are due October 19, 2020 via email at vivaopen@gmu.edu. And remember to check in with JMU’s Office of Sponsored Programs (jmu_grants@jmu.edu) in early October to ensure that your proposal is approved by the university for submission.
