Explore Prohibition in Rockingham County

Posted April 17, 2019 in Educational Technology News, JMU Libraries News

A new collection of prohibition-related records will soon be on the Exploring Rockingham’s Past web site. This web site is an ongoing, collaborative, scholarly project to digitize, describe, organize, and publish collections from the Rockingham Circuit Courthouse’s substantial archival materials, which go back to 1778. These records will soon be much more accessible to researchers worldwide.

An event to celebrate this new collection and the work that went into it will be held at Brothers Craft Brewing on April 25 from 5:30 to 7pm. This is a free event and all are welcome. The event and the project are sponsored by JMU Libraries, JMU Department of History, and the Rockingham Circuit Court, with support from 4-VA & others.
