I Married a Park Ranger and Became a Park Wife

Posted October 25, 2018 in JMU Libraries News

All faculty, students, staff, and community members are invited to the final Special Collections Speaker Series of this semester:

Local author Phel Jacobsen will speak about her new book, “I married a Park Ranger and became a Park Wife,” on Wednesday, November 7 from 4 to 5pm in Carrier Library, room 301. After a most unusual chance meeting, in 1952, followed by a short courtship, and then marriage to Bob, a budding National Park Ranger, Phel Jacobsen lived the life of a Park Wife. Her memoir is a story full of adventure, isolation, and dedication that she experienced living in eight of our nation’s unique National Parks, including Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park.

Refreshments will be provided. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Free parking at Mason Street Deck (Levels 3-5). Questions? Please contact Kate Morris (library-special@jmu.edu), Head of JMU Special Collections.
