Makerspace Workshops for Students, Staff, and Faculty: Fall 2022

Create, tinker, craft, invent, and discover new skills in our makerspaces. Check out these free workshops offered by The Makery, located in the basement of Carrier Library and the first floor of Rose Library. Our knowledgeable and helpful staff are here to help you with academic and personal projects to foster your creativity!

Introduction to Machine Embroidery

Get an introduction to the Dream Machine—an embroidery and sewing machine you can use to embroider monograms, sew-on patches, and so much more. All supplies are included. Held in The Makery in Carrier Library.

Mixed Media Painting

Studies have shown that exposure to even small amounts of art and creativity can reduce stress and anxiety. Join this in-person workshop for a relaxing hour of creating mixed media art using acrylic paints and household items. All supplies provided! Held in Carrier Library room 37 (“TLT Lab” in the basement).

Intro to Electronic Music Production

Learn the foundations of making electronic music in this workshop. Try a free, browser-based tool for music production and beat making. Learn basic production concepts, then experiment and explore with support. No experience required! Held in Carrier Library room 37 (“TLT Lab” in the basement).

Laser Cutting 101: Intro & Basics

Make something of your own on the laser cutter in The Makery in Carrier! Explore the step-by-step process of creating simple laser-cut objects. Take home a keychain featuring your own design. Held in The Makery in Carrier Library.

Sewing 101

Learn to use our sewing machines and walk through a simple sewing project. Excellent for folks new to sewing or looking for a refresher. All supplies provided. Held in The Makery in Rose Library.

Intro to 3D Modeling and 3D Printing

Learn the basics of 3D modeling, including how to prepare a 3D model for printing. Held in 3SPACE (Carrier Library room 101).
