Faculty: Apply for a $2000 Grant to Switch to No-Cost Course Materials

Posted on: October 17, 2022

JMU instructors, do you want to swap out an expensive textbook for “open” course materials that are cost-free for your students? Consider applying for an Open Adopt Grant from VIVA, Virginia’s academic library consortium!

VIVA Open Adopt Grants provide awards of $2,000 to individual instructors to support the time it takes to  integrate existing open or no-cost materials into a syllabus, and to ensure that the results of those efforts are widely available to Virginia educators.

Applications are due December 7, 2022. Please check in with JMU’s Office of Sponsored Programs at jmu_grants@jmu.edu first to verify that your proposal is approved by the university for submission. When you are ready to apply, download the Word document on the left side of the Open Adopt Grants page, fill out the document, then email the completed document to vivaopen@gmu.edu by 11:59 pm on December 7, 2022.
