Use any combination of text to include title, composer(s),instrument(s), genre.  After performing the initial search, filters can be applied to further tailor the search.  Much more is available online – search in the Scores and Sheet Music Databases.

Specific instrument: use or combine any the instrument and other identifying information (composer, genre, title words, etc). Unfortunately, for music, the catalog requires precise spelling.

Example: To locate the piano prelude, “Les fees sont d’exquises danseuses” by Debussy:

Standard ensembles: use or combine genre terms like “string quartet” and other identifying information (composer, genre, title words, etc). Unfortunately, for music.  The catalog requires precise spelling.

Example: To locate Haydn’s string quartet no. 76:

Specific song or aria: use or combine significant words form the song or aria title and the composer’s last name if you know it. The catalog requires precise spelling.

Example: To locate Puccini’s “O mio babbino caro”, perform this search:

Operas, oratarios, or other large works: use or combine significant words form the song or aria title and the composer’s last name if you know it. The catalog requires precise spelling.
