An ornately tiled blue mosque against a blue sky

On display in Carrier Library, February 2020.

Selected by the JMU Libraries Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (chair: Alyssa Young).

The current relationships Iran has with the United States, Syria, Russia, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other neighboring countries are deeply connected to history and culture. The cultural and ideological dimensions of war conflict create the perspective of Iran we have today. Economic factors like sanctions, to the effects military action has on local people have a role in this history.

Through this display, you will learn more about the history of Iran and its relationships with these countries and how culture, heritage, and shared values weave their way through and affect Iranians today.
