Revised May 2021
James Madison University Libraries contracts with vendors, publishers, and multimedia producers to provide authorized users with access to thousands of electronic resources. In addition, JMU Libraries offers access to resources purchased by the state consortium, the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA). Public, government, and other open access resources are made available on the Libraries’ website, as well.
Authorized users generally include anyone with an active JMU eID: current faculty, staff, students, and affiliates. Alumni are not authorized users at this time. Walk-in users to the libraries can access most licensed electronic resources; please visit the library service desks to obtain a login.
If license terms are violated by any user, the vendor has the right to temporarily suspend access for the individual or for the entire university community. In some cases, licenses may be permanently revoked.
If you have any questions regarding proper use of a resource, Ask the Library.
