Objectives: This self-paced course introduces fundamental competencies of AI literacy to help members of the JMU community become critical users of AI who understand how and when to leverage the technology responsibly and ethically.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize how pervasive AI is around you, from social media to voice assistants. Building this awareness is key.
- Use AI tools effectively and know how to interpret AI content yourself. These capabilities allow you to benefit from using AI.
- Understand core technical concepts like machine learning, providing insight into how AI systems function behind the scenes. This fundamental knowledge allows more informed evaluation of AI capabilities, limitations, and potential issues like algorithmic bias.
- Critically assess the accuracy and reliability of AI output.
