Comments: Written on back: E. (Elizabeth Kelly) christening Burruss Hall which was Dormitory #1 1913. [NOTE: Dorm #1 was Jackson Hall. The name Burruss was proposed for it by the class of 1913 after the institution’s president, Julian Burruss, but the president adopted a policy of naming buildings only after deceased persons. The class then proposed the name Jackson Hall to honor Gen. Stonewall Jackson. This name was formally designated at the fifth reunion of the class in 1918.
