Zoom is Coming Soon!
Posted on: July 22, 2020
Thanks to your feedback and requests, James Madison University is making Zoom available for campus use. Zoom is a cloud-based web conferencing tool that will allow faculty, staff, and students to teach, meet, and share content online. Webex will continue to be available also.
Many in the JMU community have already turned to Zoom to teach and communicate virtually. We are finalizing the procurement of a campus license to implement Zoom in the coming weeks in support of online teaching, learning, and teleworking. If you already have a license registered to your JMU email address, details will be shared with how the campus license will impact your current license.
We encourage you to visit the new Zoom page on our Guide to Hybrid & Online Teaching for the most up-to-date information about using Zoom at JMU. We’ll share workshops and other resources for using Zoom as they are developed.
If you are preparing for fall classes and planning to use teleconferencing, Zoom provides training resources for getting started. Visit https://zoom.us/docs/en-us/covid19.html
More information about Zoom will be forthcoming from JMU IT and the Libraries, including workshops for faculty, Training Guides, Privacy and Security Best Practices, and information about Canvas integration.
