- M.A., English Literature, James Madison University, 2017
- B.A., double-major, Technical Writing & Spanish, Virginia Tech, 2012
My research interests are broad and interdisciplinary. They include reflective, joyful, mindful, and inclusive pedagogy; critical librarianship; information democracy and intellectual freedom/privacy issues; success and well-being for library workers and for students; STEM education; library outreach; climate change and climate justice; sustainability; the Anthropocene; science communication; and Afrofuturist literature, among other topics!
I enjoy collaborating with many colleagues across JMU and across librarianship. I am a member of JMU Libraries’ Organizational Learning Committee, ACRL-STS’s Membership & Recruitment Committee, the Library Freedom Project, and Massanutten Regional Library’s Board of Trustees, and frequently contribute to other service needs as they arise.
I also enjoy being involved in my local community. I am a member of Harrisonburg Dance Cooperative’s Artists’ Council (Board), a volunteer therapy dog owner, an Officer of Election (poll worker) for Rockingham County, staff for Red Wing Roots, and regularly contribute to other community projects and service needs.
