Campus Partners Offering Data Services

If your project needs hands-on statistical modeling, advanced survey design, or data analysis support, we’ll connect you with our campus partners.

Other JMU Units That Provide Data Support

In addition to JMU Libraries, several campus units provide specialized support for working with data. The resources below can help you find the right support based on your needs.

Center for Faculty Innovation (CFI)

  • What they do: Provide comprehensive professional development, programming, and resources that support faculty and staff in research, scholarship, career planning, well-being and data-informed teaching practices. Individuals and departments can request a consultation for a specific need and will be matched with a consultant, including help with specific faculty-led research projects (e.g., consultants can provide support with research design, methods, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and data visualization).
  • What they don’t do: Do not directly support student projects.

Planning, Analytics & Institutional Research (PAIR)

  • What they do: Provide a suite of self-service dashboards with historical enrollment information and university survey results. JMU faculty and staff may submit a request for data not available on our website. PAIR may also support research or analytics projects that have wide reaching impact at the university and are aligned with key priorities (e.g., enrollment management, work-based learning, etc.).
  • What they don’t do: PAIR does not provide consultation or direct support for faculty or student research projects; does not oversee administration of additional university surveys.

Statistical Consulting Center (Department of Mathematics & Statistics): SCC

  • What they do: Offer statistical consulting on research design, data analysis, interpretation, and statistical computing for JMU graduate students, faculty, and staff across and for local community, and local non-profits and companies.
  • What they don’t do: Capacity is limited, and requests are fulfilled based on faculty expertise and availability, with projects accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Science & Math Learning Center (CSM)

  • What they do: Provide drop-in free tutoring and academic support to help students understand and apply statistical and quantitative concepts in first and second year coursework through peer and faculty assistance.
  • What they don’t do: Services are limited to JMU students enrolled in supported courses in physics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics and philosophy and focus on course-based learning rather than research projects. No appointments or private tutoring available, drop-in tutoring services only.
