Lisa Hartman

Makery Services Manager

About me

I joined the JMU Libraries Makery Team in 2016 as the Desk Manager for Learning, Innovation, and Design. Those responsibilities include hiring, supervising, training assistance, implementing new procedures, and patron project assistance.  Before that, I held the Acquisitions Manager position in the Libraries Technical Services department. I have 25+ years of management and supervisory experience in an academic setting including hiring, training, scheduling and, developing policies and procedures.  During my tenure at JMU, I have submitted several cost-saving suggestions, including an extensive research report to support and implement shelf-ready materials for the libraries.

I’m a graduate of JMU, where I majored in Media Arts and Design and have the privilege of seeing those skills in action everyday within our Makery Spaces.  I am a Wildlife Transporter for the Virginia Wildlife Center, a member of Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue and, on the Board of Directors for the Mosby Foundation.

I currently live on a farm with my husband and our three rescued Border Collies. When I am not keeping busy with my job responsibilities or my outside volunteer work you can find me painting and experimenting with various mixed media projects in my backyard studio.
