About me
I joined the JMU Libraries Makery team in 2016 as the Desk Manager for Learning, Innovation, and Design. In this role, I oversee the hiring, training, supervision, and scheduling of student employees, develop and implement operational procedures, coordinate events, and assist patrons with a wide variety of creative projects. Prior to joining the Makery, I served as Acquisitions Manager in the Libraries’ Technical Services department.
I bring more than 25 years of management and supervisory experience in higher education, with expertise in hiring, training, staff development, scheduling, and creating policies and procedures that improve efficiency and service. During my time at JMU, I have also contributed several cost-saving initiatives, including conducting extensive research and developing a proposal that supported the implementation of shelf-ready materials for the Libraries.
As a proud JMU graduate with a degree in Media Arts and Design, I enjoy combining my educational background with my passion for creativity every day in the Makery spaces.
Outside of work, I am a Wildlife Transporter for the Wildlife Center of Virginia, volunteer with Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue, and serve on the Board of Directors for The Mosby Foundation. My husband and I live on a farm with our rescued Border Collies. When I’m not at work or volunteering, you’ll usually find me painting or exploring new mixed media techniques in my backyard art studio.
