Olen Siron

Sr. Educational Technology Engineer

About me

Olen has been a member of the James Madison workforce since 1999.  Over the past 22 years he has observed and been a part of the substantial growth in the  technological expansion of the JMU teaching spaces. Originally hired as an electronic technician to perform maintenance and repair on individual AV equipment, the position quickly evolved to include design, installation and maintenance of the newly touted “Technology Classrooms”. The Classroom Technology Services (CTS) department, formerly known as “Media Resources”, has grown exponentially since 1999, when we had approximately 12 rooms set up for advanced teaching and learning. CTS is currently responsible for maintaining and supporting 470-plus mediated spaces throughout the JMU campus, with additional off campus locations.

Olen considers his job to be one of best jobs he has ever held, both challenging and rewarding at the same time! He feels that if you allow yourself to, you can learn something new almost every day. And he not is not only talking about the technology, but about communicating and listening to others. What more could one ask for?
