How to Use JMU Libraries: May-July 2026
Posted April 17, 2026 in Uncategorized

We are so excited to welcome you back to Carrier Library starting Monday, August 3!
To ensure we can open Carrier on time, some library spaces, collections, and services will have limited availability from May through July as we move books, furniture, and more.
We appreciate the grace the JMU community continues to show as we manage the moves during this final, complex phase of the Carrier renovation.

What will be different this May through July?
The following temporary adjustments and closures will allow us to redistribute technology, equipment, books, and offices across our library system before Carrier reopens:
Books and Other Physical Collections
You can request books and other items from our collections or via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at any time, but some books will be unavailable for part of the summer:
From May xx? through July 5:
- All books that will be in Carrier Library when it reopens will be unavailable. These include books with call numbers starting with A, B, C, D, E, F, M, N, P, U, V, or Z as well as other physical collections.
- Interlibrary Loan may be able to provide printed or scanned copies of these books during this time.
From June 19 through July 5:
- All books and physical collections in all library locations except ETMC will be unavailable
- Our delivery services will be paused
- Interlibrary Loan will deliver items in electronic format only
Starting July 6, our delivery services will resume and you will be able to visit Rose Library, the Music Library, or ETMC to pick up physical items from ILL or any of our four locations.
Check out this FAQ for more tips on doing research with JMU Libraries during a closure.
